After my first encounter with horses, my photography quickly shifted from a career in fashion and theatrical headshots to equine portraiture.  The moment I looked in to the large, soulful eyes of these magnificent creatures, my heart was touched, and I knew I had found my destiny.

Several years ago I visited Return to Freedom, an American Wild Horse Sanctuary located in Lompoc, CA.  The sanctuary's founder Neda DeMayo and her staff work relentlessly to help save the American wild horse from extinction and give wild horses across the nation a voice. I was so moved by their dedication, I have made it a priority in my life and my art to raise awareness and help educate people on the plight of the American wild horse. Unbridled Souls: Portrait of the American Wild Horse 2009 Calendar is available now, just in time for the holiday season. A portion of all my photographic sales is gifted to Return to Freedom.

Newmac Northwest Driftwood

Newmac Northwest Driftwood

10% of preceeds donated to Return to Freedom.

Newmac Northwest Driftwood attempts to capture the spirit of the American Wild Horse in every unique sculpture. All sculptures are hand-crafted using driftwood collected on the Oregon Coast. It's important to show our grandchildren the pictures of wild horses that inspire us so much. We do not want these pictures to be old and faded but rather fresh and vivid. I think it makes sense that if we could all just do a small part then there would not be, as it seems, too many to help, too many forgotten and always too many gone.
