Ninety-three wild horses have been rounded up in southeastern Oregon as part of Bureau of Land Management gather, as of Tuesday.
Horses from the Three Fingers Herd Management Area were to be rounded up in July. Those plans were delayed until Monday, Aug. 29, first because of contractor availability, then by the Cherry Road fire. It burned through more than 35,000 acres beginning on Aug. 21.
The fire burned more than 90 percent of the Wildhorse Basin pasture, according to Larry Moore of the BLM.
Horses from the northern part of the management area, which suffered the brunt of the fire damage, will continue to be rounded up until BLM has taken its planned 150 off of the range, Moore said, while those living on the southern end will remain.
