Meet Hopi

Hopi came to Return to Freedom in 2002. He is a stunning dun tobiano stallion. We estimate his birth year to be 1997.

Captured from the Navajo Reservation, he was sold at an auction in Arizona for ten cents a pound. He and his pregnant mare Shoshona, were sold to an illegal horse tripping outfit Los Angeles where they would be chased and roped by their feet and pulled to the ground for entertainment. He arrived to the sanctuary emaciated and cut up, but today he is a stunning stallion in a grassy pasture with 18 other mustangs. Hopi is content to live with other horses but is wary of humans.
