After discussions with Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County health officials, RTF’s summer programs will be part of Stage 3 of reopening. As a result, RTF has canceled its June programs for the safety of participants and sanctuary staff and volunteers. We are reaching out to those who’ve registered to let them know.

While necessary, we announce this decision with a heavy heart: Our summer season is always such a vibrant part of the year when we get to share RTF’s mission, telling the story of America’s wild horses and burros, while meeting all the wonderful, enthusiastic visitors in a natural environment.

Our programs are also an important source of revenue needed to care for well over 500 wild horses and burros at our four sanctuary locations.

With so many families struggling to make ends meet, it’s also a difficult time to ask for help. If you can, please consider making a donationsponsoring one of our wild horses or burros, or signing up for a yearlong online celebration of Spirit’s birthday

Please watch our programs page for updates.
