Shannen was born on July 6, 2024 at Return to Freedom’s sanctuary. This fierce filly was named in honor of our dear friend Shannen Doherty, a passionate advocate for animals who cared greatly about RTF’s epic large-scale rescue of members of the Alpine herd. We lost our friend far too soon and see her fighting spirit in this special filly. Shannen is the daughter of Navajo, a beautiful black mare that was captured and removed from her home in the Apache National Forest in Northern Arizona in November 2023.
