Return to Freedom will be host not one but two special Photography Workshops and Safaris with Editing Labs, April 1-3 and May 31-June 5, led by Lori Sortino, Cathy Wallace and Deb Hofstetter.

  • The April workshop will provide an opportunity to photograph and observe rescued herds and family bands of wild horses and burros at our 2,000-acre San Luis Obispo, Calif., satellite sanctuary. Depending on weather and participant input, time may be spent on group editing for those interested in learning and sharing techniques.
  • The May workshop will give photographers a chance to photograph rescued mustangs and burros at our 300-acre Lompoc, Calif., headquarters sanctuary, as well in San Luis Obispo. In Lompoc, photographers will go into pastures with bands of horses, photographing them as they move on their own. An editing lab will be set up in one of our barns.

Early bird registration fees are available for both workshops are available until Jan. 31.

Other scheduled events:

  • Opening Day and Spirit’s Birthday, May 9, in Lompoc
  • Walk a Day with the Herd in San Luis Obispo, a special full-day event on May 30
  • Tours of our Lompoc headquarters on scheduled dates from May-August
